Power Outage

All humans have the potential to be great leaders. Why most of us never make it to this point, I believe, is because we fail at leadership on the most fundamental level. By this I mean we fail to see that we are great leaders of ourselves. You cannot be a leader of others if you cannot first lead yourself. We could, of course, make it to this point where we realize this power within, but at almost every chance we get we give this power away to religion, the government, so-called experts or any historical figure who appears in a book. We believe in the authority of someone else, whoever that may be, before ourselves and it keeps us in a state of powerlessness.
The antidote to this would be to become acquainted with the power source within. The same admiration that we give any figure of power can be redirected toward ourselves. It’s easy to rely on an outside source for authority, but it is a dangerous route. When we habituate in this practice, we slowly revert to an infantile state and that seems to be the preferred state. We place limits on our power as well as our liberties when we incessantly look externally for guidance.
The same belief that we place in outside authority would work wonders for ourselves, but being your own authority figure is frowned upon. This way of the world that we’ve normalized, placing our belief in others, is contributing to a world where we are slowly being crushed. Authorities will keep using our belief in them to control every aspect of our lives until we reach a point where we are nothing more than pawns on a chess board.
