Weak Points of Human Tendency

I started this literary journey with simply a goal in mind: to convince the people to think deeper and believe in themselves. In embarking on this journey, I hadn’t really considered what I was up against. I seemed to have grossly underestimated my obstacles and in doing so I risked not enlisting my full force. If you’re lifting a light weight you’ll naturally apply only the necessary force it takes to lift it and if the weight is heavy, you’ll apply a greater force. I realizing that the force I was applying may have been insufficient.
In my journey, I face great obstacles which are the weaker elements of human tendency. By this I mean such elements as our tendency to conform, resist change, seek comfort and our tendency to succumb to fear. Outside of human nature there are obstacles that oppose me such as the powers of social control, psychological manipulation and the overall cunning of the powers that run society. However, in addressing the former obstacles I will by extension undress the latter and leave them cold, naked and pathetic.
Our fears are usually unfounded and we find that what we thought may happen never came close to materializing. We let our imaginations run wild when we give into fear thus allowing ourselves to become paralyzed by it. As humans we don’t only possess fear but it’s mortal enemy, courage, which allows us to boldly move forward despite the presence of its nemesis. It’s time we learn to put a leash on fear or allow it maintain its leash on us.
Change is something that is happening all around us and also within us every second of everyday. Change is something to embrace rather than repulse. The only way to escape change is to leave this life, which itself is change. Realizing this universal presence of change, we can employ it to our advantage. If change must happen, then why not be the architect of it?
Comfort to a certain degree is for sure necessary to promote well being. Water to a certain degree is necessary as well, but too much of it can drown you. All things in life have their points of excess where the returns are diminishing. In our society, we push the limits of comfort to the detriment of our spirit. How much of what we deem necessary is in fact superfluous? We must ask ourselves this question at one point or another or die well before we’re buried.
Conformity, one of the strongest shackles of the human spirit is also one of the most imperceptible. We conform with what we’re told and with what we see and we tend to do so unquestioningly. Thus, we don’t know why we do many of the things that we do. This is an easy way to be led off of a cliff. Conformity leads us to ignore who we are in favor of what society wants us to be. Why do we conform? We are afraid of who we are. We’re afraid of what we might become and of what others may think of us. Realize this: the mere opinions of people are only as harmful as we allow them to be. On top of this, they are subject to change on a whim. Why place much value in such a thing?
